MEDIATION FAQ
What is mediation?
Mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution. It is a voluntary problem-solving meeting that helps two or more individuals reach a compromise to a depending or impending conflict.
Why should I mediate?
Mediation seeks win-win agreements. In mediation, the parties control the outcome, not a judge who knows very little about you and your family. Mediation of Central Austin provides a safe, neutral environment as opposed to the open, cold setting of a courtroom where your private life is on public display. If you are looking for a way to avoid the stress and time in court, we have the solution.
Is mediation confidential?
Mediators are protected by Texas law from testifying in court about communications that occurred between parties in mediation. If an agreement is reached, then it is reduced to writing in a Mediated Settlement Agreement signed by all parties and filed with the Court. If no agreement is reached, all notes or other offers discussed in mediation remain confidential.
How long is a mediation session?
Mediation can be done in a half-day session- 4 hours or a full-day session- 8 hours. At the time that you call, please let us help you decide which is the most suitable for your case.
What are the steps to get a mediation session?
